Benetti arguably pioneered the semi-custom concept with it's incredibly successful series models. Using a standard engineering platform with a hugely customisable layouts and interiors Benetti captured a huge portion of the custom yacht market as build times and costs significantly undercut their rivals. The semi-custom series model is now the standard operating paradigm with most if not all shipyards offering a series range.
