A Passion for Sailing

REGATTAS

Our passion for sailing is at the heart of everything we do. However, it’s on the racecourse where we truly challenge ourselves, competing against the world’s finest superyachts and testing our limits. Today, building a superyacht isn't just about cruising; sooner or later, the allure of the regatta will become irresistible—a challenge you simply can’t ignore. At the St. Bart's Buckets or the The Palma Superyacht Cup you are guaranteed to find at least one of our Brokers onboard one of the competing yachts. And at the Blue Riband events undoubtedly we'll be either running a spectator boat or simply enjoying hospitality onboard another.

I'm a Gin and Tonic sailor if I am honest, happy to take the helm on a sunny day with a steady breeze. I think there is a lot to be said for the idea that "Gentlemen don't sail upwind". I have a very capable team of sailors and I'm always delighted to hear of their exploits back in the office.

I spent some my formative years as Captain on Cyclos III, sailing in high latitudes and it certainly contributed to making me who I am today. Whether dealing with potentially catastrophic weather and routing issues or trimming out the last 0.2 of a knot on the race course, it's a constant challenge and I love that.

"Sailing is freedom—a way to connect with the ocean, escape the ordinary, and embrace the adventure of exploration. The wind, the waves, and the journey become part of you. At our brokerage, we share this passion, motivating us to ensure each client’s yachting experience captures the essence of true maritime discovery.

Sailing is a great place to find about yourself and others, there's no hiding on a boat. In a Contessa 32 with paper charts or a 40m Baltic with state of the art Nav computers it's still sailing and anything can and usually does go wrong. I love the multi-dimensional puzzle soving aspect of it, constantly dealing with the unexpected. It's not disimilar to yacht broking in that respect!

As a New Zealander I grew up on the water mucking about on boats with my brother from an early age. Sailing is part of my DNA and I have been incredibly fortunate to have developed this into a career sailing and racing on some of the worlds most iconic yachts.

I was fortunate enough to start my career on one of the most exclusive sailing boats in the world, Eos, but to me it doesn't matter whether it's 95 meters or 9.5 meters, the romance is what keeps me coming back to sailing.
